The informal leadership group for the Baha'is in Iran have now been sentenced to 20 years in prison  All concerned persons are asked to request that this sentence be reversed.
Background

Humans are in a sense outside of nature in that our actions and purposes may not be limited by nature in the sense that all other creatures on earth are limited.  This gives us a unique ability and resposibility with regard to the environment.  We can preserve and enhance it or we can destroy it.  Our spiritual responsibility is to protect the environment so that we pass a healthy and vibrant planet and biosphere on to our descendants.

A Brief History of the Baha'i Faith

In the early 1800s people in many cultures around the globe expected a major religion event. 

In North America, William Miller preached that Jesus would return in 1844 based on his underatanding of passages in the Old and New Testaments.  Some spiritual leaders of the Indian tribes also spoke of a new religious leader who would appear to restore spiritual unity to the peoples of the world.

The key scriptures of the Baha'i Faith are available  to any one in 100s of languages today.  They can be purchased from Baha'i organizations in most countries.  They are available in many bookstores and in online bookstores.  They can be found in many public libraries.  They can also be downloaded at no cost as PDF or text files - to be read on a computer or printed on your printer.  You can use our Contact link to request help with finding a book.
