The Baha'is teach that the purpose of religion through the ages has been to guide humanity to establish universal peace. The Lord's Prayer refers to this - Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven.
In our modern era with world-wide universal communications (which was invented right at the beginning of the Baha'i Faith) humanity finally has the potential to establish a united, peaceful, and democratic civilization around the entire globe.

Human society has changed more in the last 150 years than perhaps in the preceding several 1000 years.
We have seen an endless flood of new technology that has transformed the world physically into a global village.
Socially and spiritually we have seen broad acceptance of such concepts as religious tolerance, universal education, equality of men and women, and the necessity for global peace. Now we need to get on with implementing these ideas that we have mostly agreed are needed!
